About The Smashing Pumpkins
The Smashing Pumpkins are an Alternative Rock band created in Chicago in 1988. The original members include; singer and guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, bass player D'arcy Wretzky, and drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.
The name comes from a joke Billy Corgan blurted out one day after hearing a British person use the word 'smashing' to mean fantastic. The Smashing Pumpkins has a double meaning as it was also popular for teens to smash pumpkins in the 80s.
